An Amplified Opera Production
Puccini’s famous opera, Madama Butterfly, is reimagined by interdisciplinary performer-creator, Teiya Kasahara 笠原貞野 (they/them) into The Butterfly Project 蝶々さんのプロジェクト (or, The Ballad of Chō-Chō san). Focusing on the Japanese melodies Puccini quotes in the score, The Butterfly Project 蝶々さんのプロジェクト highlights the original intention of these melodies and brings them into the 21st century with live and recorded sounds, electronics, and classical singing.
