INTRODUCING: the Calidore String Quartet, featuring violinists Jeffrey Myers and Ryan Meehan; violist Jeremy Berry; and cellist Estelle Choi!

"The Calidore String Quartet is recognized as one of the world’s foremost interpreters of a vast chamber music repertory, from the cycles of quartets by Beethoven and Mendelssohn to works of celebrated contemporary voices like György Kurtág, Jörg Widmann, and Caroline Shaw. For more than a decade, the Calidore has enjoyed performances and residencies in the world’s major venues and festivals, released multiple critically acclaimed recordings, and won numerous awards. The Los Angeles Times described the musicians as “astonishing,” their playing 'shockingly deep,' approaching “the kind of sublimity other quartets spend a lifetime searching.” The New York Times noted the Quartet’s “deep reserves of virtuosity and irrepressible dramatic instinct,” and the Washington Post wrote that 'four more individual musicians are unimaginable, yet these speak, breathe, think, and feel as one.' The Calidore String Quartet serves as the University of Delaware’s Distinguished String Quartet in Residence. In this capacity, they direct the UD School of Music’s Graduate String Quartet Fellowship and serve as Artistic Directors of the University of Delaware Chamber Music Series. "

"Two-time GRAMMY nominee and Avery Fisher career grant recipient Jennifer Frautschi has garnered worldwide acclaim as a deeply expressive, musically adventurous violinist with impeccable technique and a wide-ranging repertoire. Equally at home in the classic and contemporary repertoire, her recent seasons have featured performances and recordings of works ranging from Robert Schumann and Lili Boulanger to Barbara White and Arnold Schoenberg. She has also had the privilege of premiering several new works composed for her by prominent living composers. Critics have described her performances as 'electrifying,' 'riveting,' and 'mesmerizing,' lauding her 'staggering energy and finesse' and 'fierce expression.' After a recent performance of the Brahms Violin Concerto, Cleveland Classical wrote: 'We witnessed the most magnificent performance by a guest soloist in recent memory. From the outset of the Brahms Concerto, she was a stunning presence, her playing a breathtaking conflation of grace and grit, and at times, downright ferocious.' She is an Artist-in-Residence at Stony Brook University."

INTRODUCING: the New Orford String Quartet, featuring violinists Andrew Wan and TSM Artistic Director Jonathan Crow; violist Sharon Wei; and cellist Brian Manker!

"Four musicians with equally stellar pedigrees formed the New Orford String Quartet with the goal of developing a new model for a touring string quartet. Their concept—to bring four elite orchestral leaders and soloists together regularly over many years to perform chamber music at the highest level—has resulted in a quartet that maintains a remarkably fresh perspective while bringing a palpable sense of joy to each performance. The Toronto Star has described this outcome as “nothing short of electrifying.” The New Orford String Quartet has seen astonishing success, giving annual concerts for national CBC broadcasts and receiving unanimous critical acclaim, including two Opus Awards for Concert of the Year, and a 2017 JUNO Award for Best Classical Album. The New Orford is dedicated to promoting Canadian works, both new commissions and neglected repertoire from the previous century."

INTRODUCING: violinist & violist Yura Lee🎻

"Violinist/violist Yura Lee is a multifaceted musician, as a soloist and as a chamber musician, and one of the very few that is equally virtuosic on both violin and viola. Her career spans through various musical mediums, captivating audiences with music from baroque to modern, and enjoying a career that spans three decades that takes her all over the world. She has performed with major orchestras including those of New York, Chicago, Baltimore, Cleveland, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. She has given recitals in London’s Wigmore Hall, Vienna’s Musikverein, Salzburg’s Mozarteum, the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels, and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. Yura Lee is a professor at the University of Southern California, Thornton School of Music, holding the Alice and Eleonore Schoenfeld Endowed Chair. She lives in Los Angeles with her dog Nugget."
