Bach: Violin Partita No. 3 in E Major, BWV 1006
Copland: Selections from Old American Songs, Sets I & II
Kelly-Marie Murphy: Give Me Phoenix Wings To Fly
Jenkins: “Benedictus” from The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace
Shostakovich: Piano Quintet in G minor, Op. 57

This programme traces a journey through solitude, song, and survival. Bach’s radiant E Major Partita opens with brilliance and poise. American voices emerge in Copland’s beloved folk settings — simple, tender, and deeply human. Kelly-Marie Murphy’s Give Me Phoenix Wings To Fly rises from devastation toward renewal, and Shostakovich’s Piano Quintet closes the evening with brooding intensity, razor-sharp wit, and ultimately, hard-won light — music of clarity, courage, and rebirth.
