Grammy Award winner, Puerto Rico-born artist Ana María Martínez is considered one of the foremost sopranos of her time. She enjoys a thriving international career that spans the world’s most important opera houses and concert halls. A winner of the fifteenth Annual Opera News Awards, her repertoire encompasses opera’s most intriguing heroines.

Martínez sings in a fiery recital of Spanish-language songs which she interprets with unsurpassed insight. She will be joined by acclaimed pianist Craig Terry in this mixed program recital that includes selections by such composers as de Falla, Turina and Carlos Gardel, father of the tango. With hidden gems of the repertoire along with haunting melodies that you’re sure to recognize such as the most familiar of all Latin art songs, Manuel Ponce’s “Estrellita” (“The Little Star”), this is a night to remember.

This concert is presented in honour of the late James Norcop.
