Yumi Jang is widely recognized as an accomplished pianist with a distinguished international career. Her performances have graced renowned venues worldwide, including Carnegie Hall in New York, Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, Royal Albert Hall in the United Kingdom, Mirabell Palace in Austria, Seoul Arts Center in South Korea, and various venues across Canada and the USA.
Her expressive playing and dynamic performances, both as a soloist and ensemble musician, have earned her acclaim and recognition in numerous competitions. Notable victories include Grand Prizes in the New York International Music Competition, the American International Music Competition in Cleveland, the “London, UK” Grand Prize Virtuoso Music Competition, American Protégé Music Competition, Golden Classical Music Awards “Los Angeles,” Charleston International Music Competition, Quebec Music Competition in Canada, and the Hongkong Asia Open International Piano Competition. Yumi’s musical journey began at the age of four in her native South Korea, where she quickly won numerous awards, performing extensively across Korea.
A graduate of the prestigious Sunhwa Arts Middle and High School (Seoul, Korea), she holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Yonsei University (South Korea), and a Master of Music degree from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University. She pursued doctoral studies at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities under the guidance of Dr. Kyung Kim before transferring to the University of Western Ontario, where she serves as a graduate teaching assistant and is completing a Doctor of Musical Arts Degree with Dr. Kyung Kim.
