Korean violinist Yubin Kim recently completed the Artist Diploma at Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music under Paul Kantor. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Yonsei University and a Master of Music degree from Rice University.
As an active chamber musician, Yubin was selected as a fellow of Verbier Music Festival in 2023 and 2024, where she worked with distinguished conductors including Sir Simon Rattle, Zubin Mehta, Klaus Mäkelä, Christoph Eschenbach, and Daniele Gatti. Her recent performances include appearances as a DaCamera Young Artist at the Wortham Theater Center and the Menil Collection in Houston, as well as a performance at the 2025 Chamber Music America Conference. She also served as concertmaster at the Shepherd School of Music and performed in Shepherd School of Music Spotlight Concerts with Jon Kimura Parker, Desmond Hoebig, and Ivo-Jan van der Werff. Most recently, she performed and recorded the world premiere of Karim Al-Zand’s The Strangers’ Case with Karim Sulayman and Kinetic Ensemble.
Kim received First Prize and the Grand Prize in the Strings Division at the Eum Ak Journal Competition, where she was awarded a Pierre Guillaume bow. She has also won top prizes in major competitions in Korea and has performed as a soloist with the Goyang Nuri Chamber Orchestra and the Goyang Nuri Youth Orchestra.
