Cellist Thomas Lim frequently brings performances to audiences across the world, including recent performances of concertos by Prokofiev, Tchaikovsky, and Haydn. He has played in venues including Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, Jordan Hall, and has been invited to the Perlman Music Program, Music@Menlo, and Kneisel Hall. Named a National YoungArts Foundation Winner in 2019, Thomas has won top prizes at competitions including the Violons du Roy Concerto Competition, Juilliard Concerto Competition, Montgomery Symphony Orchestra Blount-Slawson Young Artists’ Competition, and the Lewisville Lake Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition.  

A passionate chamber musician, Thomas received the Borromeo String Quartet Guest Artist Award, the A Far Cry Fellowship Award, and an Honours Chamber designation at NEC. In addition, he has performed alongside and worked closely with esteemed artists including Kim Kashkashian, Itzhak Perlman, Robert McDonald, and Donald Weilerstein. Currently a student of Laurence Lesser at the New England Conservatory, his teachers include Natasha Brofsky, Darrett Adkins, Jonathan Koh, Minja Hyun, and he has additional studies with Lynn Harrell, Mischa Maisky, Frans Helmerson, Joel Krosnick, and Hans Jorgen Jensen. He holds an MM from Juilliard and a BA and MS from Columbia University. Upcoming engagements include appearances at the Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concerts Series, Four Seasons Chamber Music Festival, Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival, Mimir Chamber Music Festival, Toronto Summer Music, and Olympic Music Festival. Thomas plays on an unattributed Italian cello ca. 1750, and an English bow by John Dodd.
