Violinist Seeun Baek, a first prize winner of numerous international competitions, including the Fanny Mendelssohn International Competition, New York International Music Competition, and Caneres International Music Competition Vienna, has established herself as a compelling and expressive artist.
Seeun has performed in winners’ recitals at Carnegie Weill Hall and Lincoln Center’s Bruno Walter Auditorium, and has been invited to perform at the Seongnam Mulbit Garden Music Hall Opening Series. She has participated in chamber music festivals including the Kneisel Hall Chamber Music Festival and the Pablo Casals Chamber Music Festival, and has studied with esteemed artists such as Emanuel Ax, Joel Krosnick, Yoheved Kaplinsky, Jerome Lowenthal, Carol Wincenc, David Finckel, David Bowlin, Dmitry Kouzov, Matthew Lipman, Brian Hong, Raman Ramakrishnan, and members of the Emerson, Juilliard, and Shanghai String Quartets. She is actively performing throughout the United States as a violinist of the Velaris String Quartet and Astralis Chamber Ensemble.
She has also appeared as concertmaster of the Juilliard Orchestra and the Stony Brook Symphony Orchestra, performing at renowned venues including Alice Tully Hall, David Geffen Hall, and Carnegie Hall.
She graduated summa cum laude from Seoul National University, where she studied with Ju-Young Baek, and earned her Master of Music degree from The Juilliard School, studying with Ronald Copes and Laurie Smukler. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts at Stony Brook University under the guidance of Hagai Shaham, Philip Setzer, and Arnaud Sussmann, with full scholarship and a teaching assistantship.
