During his studies at the prestigious Paris CNSMDP, Berlin Hanns Eisler Hochschule, and Lausanne HEMU, Roman Cazal studied under mentors Raphaël Pidoux, Claudio Bohorquez, and Francois Salque, and took part in masterclasses with Xavier Phillips, Gustav Rivinius, Attila Pasztor, Jean Guihen Queyras, Gary Hoffman, Frans Helmerson, and Steven Isserlis.

As a soloist, he has performed Tchaikovsky’s Rococo Variations, Kabalevsky’s Concerto No. 1, Boccherini’s Concerto in B-flat Major, the Beethoven Triple Concerto, and Fauré’s Élégie, accompanied by the Bel Arte Orchestra, Paris CRR Symphonic Orchestra, Oise Orchestra, and Prométhée Orchestra. He has also premiered Alain Louvier’s Concerto, Vers l’Azur, Giorgio Cambissa’s Cello Concerto, and a cello octet composed by Philippe Hersant, alongside Yo-Yo Ma.

He is regularly invited to perform chamber music concerts in festivals around the world with great artists such as Svetlin Roussev, Christophe Giovannineti, David Castro Balbi, the Talich Quartet, Torleif Thedeen, and Ulf Wallin, among others.

After performing as Principal Cellist with numerous orchestras–including l’Orchestre National de Bordeaux, Verbier Festival Orchestra, l’Orchestre National de Cannes, and Prométhée Orchestra–he has been asked to join the Ébène Quartet, and is preparing new repertoire with them.

Roman Cazal is a laureate of the Tokyo Foundation, Fondation de France, Société Générale, and Adami Foundation, and is currently playing a cello made in 1840 by Sebastien Philippe Bernardel.
