Remea Elisa Ines Friedrich, born in 2002, started playing violin at the age of five and switched to the viola at 12. From the age of 14, she studied with Prof. Nicolas Corti at the University of Fine Arts Zurich, first as a youth student, then as a Bachelor’s student. She graduated with her Bachelor’s degree with Honours in 2023. As of 2025, she is pursuing a Master’s in Pedagogy, with the main subject of viola, with Prof. Lilli Maijala, and a Certificate of Advanced Study in Music Physiology, at the same school.

Through masterclasses, she received additional coaching by renowned musicians such as Tabea Zimmermann, Nils Mönkemeyer, Hariolf Schlichtig, and Hartmut Rohde, amongst others.

She is the holder of the Second Prize of the Valiant Forum Murten Classics, where she also debuted as a soloist in 2023 with the Collegium Musicum Basel and Johannes Schläfli. Additionally, she has been awarded several scholarships from the Fritz-Gerber-Foundation, the Lyra Foundation, and the C. & A. Kupper Foundation.

Next to teaching, chamber and orchestral music are an important aspect of her career. In the season of 2021/22, Remea was chosen to be a part of the Orchestra Academy of the Tonhalle-Orchestra Zurich as the orchestra’s youngest academist. She has also played as part of the Balthasar-Neumann Ensemble, the Vokalensemble Zürich, and with musicians such as Lorenza Borrani and Tabea Zimmermann.
