Mezzo-soprano Mairin Srygley is a multifaceted entrepreneur, voice therapist, and interpreter of song, chamber music, and opera. She has been hailed as “a star” for her “palpable sincerity and sizable voice.” Previous season highlights in opera include Sesto/La clemenza di Tito under Elinor Rufeizen, Penelope/Penelope and the Geese (Paranosic) at the Corfù Museum of Asian Art (Greece), Mother/Hansel and Gretel under Aaron Breid, and Rinaldo with Greg Eldridge. In the 2024/25 season, she was praised for her “sensational” debut of Sister Helen/Dead Man Walking (Opera AACC, USA). 

In concert, Mairin has appeared with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra, and Newark Symphony Orchestra under Marin Alsop, Helmuth Rilling, and Kenneth Slowik. When curating recitals, she is passionate about pushing the boundaries of classical music traditions. In the 2023/24 season, she unveiled When I am Alone, a multi-sensory exploration of isolation during COVID-19, and What She Said, a juxtaposition of Chansons de Bilitis with the songs of Tailleferre, Sauvrecis, and Viardot. 

Mairin has garnered recognition from the University of Maryland-College Park (full funding; Presser Scholar Award), University of Delaware (full funding), Jennifer Rowley’s Epic Auditions (First Place/Professional), Mostly Modern Festival (Voice Fellowship), NATS Eastern Region Auditions (First Place, Non-Trad Classical), Greater Philadelphia NATS Auditions (First Place, Adult Classical), Vocal Arts DC Young Artists Competition (Finalist), UD Concerto Competition (Finalist), and Classical Singer Competition, San Francisco (Semi-Finalist, Professional Classical). She holds a Master’s of Music in Vocal Performance, a Master’s of Science in Speech-Language Pathology, a Bachelor of Arts in Vocal Performance, and a Bachelor of Arts in Education and Social Change in Latin America. www.masvoice.org
