Mezzo-Soprano

Hometown: Brooklyn, NY, USA

Based in New York City, Katherine Lerner Lee is an avid recitalist and chamber musician, and performs repertoire spanning four centuries.

Described as “lyricism personified” (Oberon’s Grove), Katherine’s 2025-26 season includes solo appearances in Mozart’s Vespers, and Bach’s St. John’s Passion, as well as the world premiere of Greta: The Fearless with the 21st Century Consort, and a reimagined Handel’s Tolomeo with Opera Essentia, Katherine’s programming highlights her love of language and includes works in Finnish, Nyorsk, Swedish, Russian, Yiddish, Polish, Czech, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Danish, Chinese, and English—and she’s always eager to add to the list. She has been presented in recital by the Cincinnati Song Initiative and Concert Artist Guild, and tours regionally alongside pianists Sophia Zhou, Anthony Ratinov, and Erica Switzer. For the 2026-2027 season, Katherine joins the inaugural cohort of Young Artists with the Brooklyn Art Song Society.

Always in search of new musical challenges, Katherine’s repertoire includes works of Crumb, Berio, Saariaho, Andriessen, Kurtàg, and Birtwistle. She is featured on Susan Botti’s River Spirits, released in 2025 by New Focus Records, and cherishes close collaborations with Scott Wheeler, Tim Mukherjee, and John Deak.

Katherine is Professor of French Diction at the Manhattan School of Music and serves on the voice faculties of the University of Mount Saint Vincent and Concordia Conservatory.
