Characterized by the Toronto Concert Review as a pianist who “has found her own voice and is making music that goes beyond the technical and musical demands,” Jingquan has performed as soloist with Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra, Symphonic Orchestra of Keimyung University in Daegu, the Symphonic Orchestra of the Shanghai Conservatory, and in solo recitals at Canadian Opera Company, Koerner Hall, Piano Laureates Concert at Walter Hall, four solo recitals in Hamamatsu (Japan), and at the Blanco Arts Concert Series as winner of the 11th Texas State International Piano Festival’s Betty Dickinson Award.
She earned top prizes at The Asian Pacific International Chopin Piano Competition, the Concerto Competition and Chamber Music Competition of the Shanghai Conservatory, the VI Krystian Tkaczewski Competition(Poland), the Pacific Rim International Piano Competition(Canada), the Chicago International Music Competition, the Paul Badura-Skoda International Piano Competition(Vienna), and the Ocean Music International Piano Competition(NYC).
An active chamber musician and collaborator, her recent concert project includes DUO330, an organ-piano duo with organist Ryan Baxter that is currently touring in Canada.
Admitted to the Elementary School of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music at age 9, Jingquan later advanced to the middle school and high school affiliated with the Conservatory. She earned her BMus and AD from the Glenn Gould School, and MMus from the University of Toronto as full-scholarship holder. Her former teachers include John Perry, David Louie, James Anagnoson, and Enrico Elisi. She is now a DMA candidate at Western University under the guidance of Dr. Kyung Kim.
