Jasmine (Meng Jia) Lin

Chinese-Canadian violinist Jasmine (Meng Jia) Lin began playing at the age of four. She made her orchestral debut at the age of nine with the Cathedral Bluffs Symphony Orchestra. She was awarded First Laureate at the 2014 Kocian International Violin Competition and was a winner of the 2018 Canada Council for the Arts Instrument Bank loan. Jasmine has since performed with the Czech Chamber Philharmonic Pardubice and at the Mlada Praha and Music Niagara festivals. Jasmine most recently attended the Schiermonnikoog Festival, Gstaad Menuhin Academy, and Kneisel Hall.  

Jasmine spent her formative years studying with Atis Bankas at the Taylor Academy of the Royal Conservatory of Music. She obtained her BM and MM from the Juilliard School with Masao Kawasaki and later studied with Nicholas Mann, Sheryl Staples, and Sylvia Rosenberg. She will begin her doctoral studies at Rice University this fall with Cho-Liang Lin.
