Born on October 11, 1971, in Gesgapegiag, Darlene Gijuminag is a singer, songwriter and percussionist. At the age of seven, she first heard the singer Buffy Sainte-Marie, a pivotal moment that marked the beginning of her deep love for music, which holds a significant place in the culture she inherited. Darlene enjoys teaching the youth in her community about the traditions and spirituality inherent in Mi’gmaq culture. As a great outdoor enthusiast, her connection to nature nourishes her music.
