INTRODUCING: cellist Efe Baltacıgil 🎻

"Named '[A] cellist of superb nuances and spontaneous musicality' (The Seattle Times). Principal Cello of the Seattle Symphony since fall 2011, Baltacıgil was previously Associate Principal Cello of The Philadelphia Orchestra since 2003. Recent highlights include his debut with the Berlin Philharmonic under Sir Simon Rattle, performing Bottesini’s Duo Concertante alongside his brother Fora; performances of Tchaikovsky’s Variations on a Rococo Theme with the Bilkent Symphony and the Seattle Symphony; and Brahms’ Double Concerto with violinist Juliette Kang and the Curtis Symphony Orchestra. In past seasons, he has debuted at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston; appeared at Carnegie’s Zankel Hall in Richard Goode’s Perspectives series; and given performances at the Philadelphia Academy of Music, the Curtis Institute of Music, the North Dakota Museum of Art, Mayville State University (ND), and the Buffalo Chamber Music Society."

"Praised by Opera for her “dramatic wit and vocal control,” British soprano Mary Bevan is internationally renowned in baroque, classical, and contemporary repertoire, and appears regularly with leading conductors, orchestras, and ensembles around the world. She is a winner of the Royal Philharmonic Society’s Young Artist Award and UK Critics’ Circle Award for Exceptional Young Talent in Music, and was awarded an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list in 2019. During the 2024-25 season, Bevan returns to English National Opera as Susanna in Le Nozza di Figaro, to Opera di Roma as Morgana in Alcina, and makes her debut with the Semperoper Dresden as Michal in a new Claus Guth production of Saul. Last season, she performed as Cleopatra in Giulio Cesare with Opera di Roma, sang Dido in Dido and Aeneas in Denmark with Barokksolistine, and debuted with the Zurich Opera House as La Folie in Platée."

INTRODUCING: the Calidore String Quartet, featuring violinists Jeffrey Myers and Ryan Meehan; violist Jeremy Berry; and cellist Estelle Choi!

"The Calidore String Quartet is recognized as one of the world’s foremost interpreters of a vast chamber music repertory, from the cycles of quartets by Beethoven and Mendelssohn to works of celebrated contemporary voices like György Kurtág, Jörg Widmann, and Caroline Shaw. For more than a decade, the Calidore has enjoyed performances and residencies in the world’s major venues and festivals, released multiple critically acclaimed recordings, and won numerous awards. The Los Angeles Times described the musicians as “astonishing,” their playing 'shockingly deep,' approaching “the kind of sublimity other quartets spend a lifetime searching.” The New York Times noted the Quartet’s “deep reserves of virtuosity and irrepressible dramatic instinct,” and the Washington Post wrote that 'four more individual musicians are unimaginable, yet these speak, breathe, think, and feel as one.' The Calidore String Quartet serves as the University of Delaware’s Distinguished String Quartet in Residence. In this capacity, they direct the UD School of Music’s Graduate String Quartet Fellowship and serve as Artistic Directors of the University of Delaware Chamber Music Series. "

"Two-time GRAMMY nominee and Avery Fisher career grant recipient Jennifer Frautschi has garnered worldwide acclaim as a deeply expressive, musically adventurous violinist with impeccable technique and a wide-ranging repertoire. Equally at home in the classic and contemporary repertoire, her recent seasons have featured performances and recordings of works ranging from Robert Schumann and Lili Boulanger to Barbara White and Arnold Schoenberg. She has also had the privilege of premiering several new works composed for her by prominent living composers. Critics have described her performances as 'electrifying,' 'riveting,' and 'mesmerizing,' lauding her 'staggering energy and finesse' and 'fierce expression.' After a recent performance of the Brahms Violin Concerto, Cleveland Classical wrote: 'We witnessed the most magnificent performance by a guest soloist in recent memory.
