Hometown: Fujian Province, China

Xi Huang is a collaborative pianist from China. She is currently pursuing her master’s degree in Piano Accompanying and Chamber Music at the Eastman School of Music, where she studies with Dr. Andrew Harley. 

Influenced by her mother, a musician, Xi began studying piano, accordion, and voice at an early age. In 2016, she placed 4th out of over 3500 applicants in college entrance examinations intended for all prospective music majors in Fujian Province, China. She also obtained offers from numerous conservatories for the Piano Performance degree. As a recipient of the Changjiang Piano Scholarship, she participated in many solo recitals and competitions. In addition to her piano studies, she received her Bachelor of Finance from Zhejiang University and was an exchange student at the University of Cambridge in England.  

Xi has worked as a collaborative pianist and participated in numerous concerts, tours, competitions, and recordings. In 2018, she won 1st place in the National College Students Cultural Competition as the collaborative pianist for the ZJU Wenqin chorus. In 2019, she was invited to attend the Jinan International Choral Festival. In 2021, she won first place in the Jiangsu Division of Hummingbird Music Awards, a competition for chamber musicians.  

Besides instruments and voice training, Xi is also interested in composition. One of her songs, “启航”, has been collected by her high school (Experimental High School Attached to Xiamen University) arts center and has been played during the graduation ceremony every year since 2016.
