Canadian-American soprano Laura Fishman has performed internationally as a soloist and collaborator in a variety of settings. With a particular passion and affinity for song, Laura was a 2019 participant at the Franz-Schubert Insitute in Baden bei Wien, Austria.
She recently graduated from McGill University with a bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance, studying with Joanne Kolomyjec. An active performer at the Schulich School of Music, Laura appeared as a soloist with the McGill Symphony Orchestra singing excerpts from Les Nuits d’Été by Berlioz. With Opera McGill she performed the role of Alcina in the Canadian premiere of Francesca Caccini’s La Liberazione di Ruggiero.
Previous opera credits also include; Jennie Hildebrand in Street Scene, Dalinda (cover) in Ariodante and Don Ettore in La Canterina. After a virtual year, Laura is very excited to be collaborating with other musicians (in person!) at this year’s Toronto Summer Music Festival.
Laura Fishman attends the 2021 TSM Academy courtesy of the Mary Louise Dickson Fellowship.
