Praised for her rich tone and captivating finesse, soprano Jamie Groote has been noted as a young artist to watch. Groote, a Toronto-native, just recently completed her second year in the Canadian Opera Company’s Ensemble studio and is thrilled to join the studio for another year through the 2021/22 season.
Jamie is a proud graduate of the University of Toronto’s, affectionately named, Opera School as well as Wilfrid Laurier University where she completed her Honours BMus in Voice Performance and an Opera Diploma. She has also attended young artist programs such as: Opera Theater of Saint Louis’ Gerdine Young Artist Program, Banff Centre and Against the Grain Theatre’s Opera in the 21St Century, Central City Opera’s Bonfils-Stanton Foundation Artist Training Program, and Houston Grand Opera’s YAVA. Pre-pandemic, Groote made her debut on the Four Seasons for the Performing Arts stage as Second Wood Nymph in Rusalka, as well as, Hansel in Hansel and Gretel in the COC’s OYA production.
Jamie is thrilled to join the Toronto Summer Music to share her equal love of recital repertoire and to enjoy some long awaited collaborative music making.
