Hannah Corbett

Hometown: Vaughan, Ontario

Hannah Corbett is a fourth year student at the University of Toronto, where she studies with Jonathan Crow. A passionate orchestral musician, Hannah has served as the concertmaster of the UofT Symphony Orchestra, Contemporary Music Ensemble, the Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra and the National Youth Orchestra of Canada (NYOC). She is the recipient of numerous scholarships, including the National Arbor Scholarship, the WMCT Centennial Scholarship, and is a three time recipient of an Award of Excellence from the NYOC. Hannah has won prizes at the Shean Strings Competition, Kocianovo Violin Competition in the Czech Republic, Kiwanis Ontario Provincials, and the TSYO Concerto Competition.

As a chamber musician, she has collaborated with members of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, National Arts Centre Orchestra, and the Cecilia String Quartet. Her string quartet was awarded the 2021 and 2022 Felix Galimir Award for Excellence in Chamber Music at the University of Toronto, and had the opportunity to work with members of the Juilliard, Rolston, Calidore, New Orford, Cecilia, and Ying Quartets.  

Hannah is a graduate of the Phil and Eli Taylor Performance Academy, where she studied on full scholarship with Atis Bankas. Hannah is looking forward to beginning her Master’s degree in the fall, studying on a full scholarship at Rice University in the studio of Cho-Liang Lin.
