Evan Pyne

Violin

Evan Pyne, from Toronto, Ontario, began studying the violin at age 6. He attended the Taylor Academy under Barry Shiffman and Marie Bérard, and currently studies with Ilya Kaler at the Cleveland Institute of Music. Evan made his solo orchestral debut with the Canadian Sinfonietta at age 12 and has since appeared as a soloist with the Oakville Chamber Orchestra, North York Concert Orchestra, Cambridge Symphony Orchestra, and Huronia Symphony Orchestras in the greater Toronto area. He won first prize at the Canadian Music Competition in 2018, third prize at the Ilona Fehér International Violin Competition in 2019, and was a finalist at the 2020 International Grumiaux Competition. Additionally, Evan was awarded second prize at the Orchestre Metropolitain’s OMNI competition in 2021 and fourth prize at the 2021 Rudolph Barshai International String Competition. His performances at Canada’s National Commemorative Ceremony in honour of Queen Elizabeth II, and the National Commemoration for His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh were aired nationally on the Canadian Broadcasting Company. In 2021, Evan received an Award of Excellence from the National Youth Orchestra of Canada.
