Born and raised by two filmmaker parents, Ella Jonas Farlinger has been immersed in Canadian creative industries her whole life. At eight years old, Ella began her film & television career as an actress, and since then has been featured on major networks such as Netflix, Family Channel, Disney Channel, and CBC. Her projects have premiered at international film festivals such as TIFF, Cannes, and Sundance.

Alongside her impressive acting career, Ella began her vocal training with jazz vocalist Adi Braun. Ella was also a member of the Canadian Children’s Opera Company (CCOC) for nine years, where her love for opera emerged. Ella was highlighted in numerous operas and two European tours with the CCOC, including lead roles in Errol Gay’s Alice in Wonderland and Hans Krasa’s Brundibar (Dora Award Nominee, Best Ensemble). In 2017, Ella was cast as the Second Spirit in the Canadian Opera Company’s production of Die Zauberflöte, and for one night, was suddenly required to fill in as the First Spirit – marking her operatic debut in style. She began studying Classical Voice with Jennifer Tung in 2017 while attending the pre-college program at the Phil & Eli Taylor Academy. Ella has just returned from Edmonton, where she played the notorious Controller in Jonathan Dove’s Flight

This past spring, Ella earned her Bachelor of Music from The Glenn Gould School in the studio of Monica Whicher and is now entering her final year of studies at the University of Toronto in Sociology. Ella is eager to complete her double degree and continue her work in synthesizing the academic and artistic spheres.
